Day Five

  • Today is our luxuriously restful, but deliciously fun-filled day.

  • After breakfast, we will take some time out from our Paris sightseeing to learn from a local French chef in her private Parisian home how to make a famous French confection – macaroons. In a hands-one workshop, she will share the secrets behind making these esteemed, colorful French delights, so you can take a taste of Paris home with you.

  • We will then head to the world famous La Grande Epicerie de Paris, lauded by food aficionados as a purveyor of the world's best, rare and ultra-sophisticated gourmet meats, cheeses, fruits and its highly regarded selection of champagnes, wines and spirits. From the store's vast selection, we will build our personal picnic baskets.

  • From there, we will head to  Luxembourg Gardens. Bordered by Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Latin Quarter, these lovely gardens are beloved by Parisians longing to bask on a lawn chair in the sunshine or enjoy a picnic. That's exactly what we will do at the stunningly beautiful park that at one time only allowed the entrance of kings and queens. Be sure to bring your favorite novel, magazine or craft for an idyllic afternoon of bliss.

  • On our way back to our rooms, we will peek in on Laudree, where you'll find their cloud-soft macaroons irresistible. We'll take a few to go, then head back to our hotel.

Within less than a single square mile can be found no fewer than 15 world-class chocolatiers, each with its own signature style and specialties. In a single afternoon, you will sample the world's creamiest ganaches, scented truffles, liqueur-filled bon bons, pralines, caramels and any other chocolaty confection under the sun. • As an option, you can remain an extra day and join us after breakfast for a day of haute couture, entertaining, etiquette and fine dining.

  • We will start with a private tour tracing the footsteps of Mademoiselle" Coco Chanel. We will "follow" as she went about becoming a fashion legend, see how she got started, visit her favorite places, meet her friends and learn the stories of her signature pieces, now icons of haute couture, like the famous Chanel jacket, her quilted handbag and, of course, her N° 5 perfume. We will begin, of course with the CHANEL jewelry boutique on the Place Vendôme. Then on to the Ritz (reopened in 2014), where she lived for many years. We will stop for tea between rue Cambon and the Place Vendôme, and finally visit the flagship CHANEL store, where we will explore the prêt-à-porter styles, perfumes, and accessories.

  • Afterwards, we will learn the art of French entertaining, which is all about refinement and etiquette. In a lovely French apartment,  our experts will share with us the French art de table: how to set a table, the time-honored codes of conduct, how to serve wine, when to move into the salon (for an after-dinner drink, or tea).

  • That evening, we will enjoy the enchanting 17th century Vaux-le-Vicomte Palace, which inspired the building of the Palace of Versailles. After a guided tour of the Carriage Museum, we will have a luxury 3-course dinner, prepared by a high quality chef, in the beautiful grounds of the château.

  • The next morning, enjoy our farewell breakfast before being driven to the airport for your return flight.
